LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE
Photo Essay by Robin Harbron
Text by Dave Moorman
In the course of getting some
editing correct, Robin included a link
to his family photo album -- in
particular, the pictures from their
vacation to Walnut Grove, MN and the
Little House on the Prairie Museum. I
took a look, and saw that a number of
the photos would make good C-64
graphics.
Processing these pictures involves
some massaging with Photo Delux, then
using GoDot to convert them from GIF
images to our SHP format. The process
took about an hour.
Then I "slapped" the graphics
together in a CLIPS Presentation and
sent the disk image back to Robin. He
used Mr.Edstar and CLIPS to write a
script for the show. I did a little
editing -- and [voila!] we had a CLIPS
show.
Robin wrote that he used two
instances of VICE on his PC -- one for
Mr.Edstar and the other for CLIPS --
to facilitate moving back and forth
between writing and looking at the
result. Getting the anti-alias text
edges correct on multi-color graphics
was a bit frustrating.
So -- I fired up Ken Robinson's
great Raster Blaster, which makes
split screens easy. After a little
work, I had nice, high-res text as
captions. The only drawback is that
the raster IRQ does not work well with
the music interrupt. At this point, we
have two versions of CLIPS -- one with
music, the other with high-res
captions.
Anyway, if you have photos in
digital format and an idea for a show,
email them to me. I will take a crack
at converting them for you. CLIPS is a
fun way to see the world!
