  2.      LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE

  7.     In the course of getting some
  8. editing correct, Robin included a link
  9. to his family photo album -- in
  10. particular, the pictures from their
  11. vacation to Walnut Grove, MN and the
  12. Little House on the Prairie Museum. I
  13. took a look, and saw that a number of
  14. the photos would make good C-64
  15. graphics.

  17.     Processing these pictures involves
  18. some massaging with Photo Delux, then
  19. using GoDot to convert them from GIF
  20. images to our SHP format. The process
  21. took about an hour.
  22.  
  23.     Then I "slapped" the graphics
  24. together in a CLIPS Presentation and
  25. sent the disk image back to Robin. He
  26. used Mr.Edstar and CLIPS to write a
  27. script for the show. I did a little
  28. editing -- and [voila!] we had a CLIPS
  29. show.

  31.     Robin wrote that he used two
  32. instances of VICE on his PC -- one for
  33. Mr.Edstar and the other for CLIPS --
  34. to facilitate moving back and forth
  35. between writing and looking at the
  36. result. Getting the anti-alias text
  37. edges correct on multi-color graphics
  38. was a bit frustrating.

  40.     So -- I fired up Ken Robinson's
  41. great Raster Blaster, which makes
  42. split screens easy. After a little
  43. work, I had nice, high-res text as
  44. captions. The only drawback is that
  45. the raster IRQ does not work well with
  46. the music interrupt. At this point, we
  47. have two versions of CLIPS -- one with
  48. music, the other with high-res
  49. captions.

  51.     Anyway, if you have photos in
  52. digital format and an idea for a show,
  53. email them to me. I will take a crack
  54. at converting them for you. CLIPS is a
  55. fun way to see the world!
